Composting does more than simply keep trash out of the landfill.

Pound for pound, composting is the most effective thing you can do to reduce your climate footprint. Composting keeps methane out of the atmosphere. Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas—27 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Petroleum is added to our trash to burn it at the H-POWER facility. Things like food waste and green waste are pretty wet, which means even more petroleum is needed in order to burn them. Composting this material instead means that added petroleum isn't burned.

Club View Gardens II spends about $70,000 a year on our dumpster service. Composting keeps trash out of our dumpsters. This can save us money by allowing us to reduce the frequency with which they're hauled, the number of dumpsters we have on site, or both.

Using compost in our gardens and around our grounds protects our watershed. It improves soil health and drainage, reducing erosion and runoff. It also eliminates the need for fertilizers.
